
Located on the western coast of India, Gujarat is a well developed industrial sate of India. Sasangir
Internationally recognised as the only surviving habitat of the Asiatic Lion, Sasan Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is situated around 65 km southeast of the small city of Junagadh in Gujarat. The reserve was created in 1913, and was designated a sanctuary in 1965 with the sole aim of safeguarding one of the world's most threatened species. Today, it proudly claims to be home to nearly 300 Asiatic Lions. The sanctuary is spread over an expansive area of around 1,412 sq km, with a protected core area of 258 sq km, which constitutes the national park. In addition to its most protected residents, the reserve is also home to a wide range of flora and fauna. The terrain here is marked by rocky hills and numerous streams in a deciduous type forest filled with teak, acacia, jamun and dhak trees.
Sabarmati Ashram :
The chief attraction in Ahmedabad is the Ashram of Mahatma Gandhi on the banks of the Sabarmati River, from where he started the famous 'Dandi March'. At present the ashram has the memorabilia of him in a museum.
Dwarka:
The sacred town of Dwarka at the convergence of the river Gomti and the Arabian Sea is linked with the myth of Lord Krishna.
Bhuj
The very old town of Bhuj retraces its past in the times of Indus Valley Civilization and now serves well as the entryway to Kutch.
Somnath Temple :- The best-known temple of Gujarat is one of the 12 Jyotiralingas. The temple was plundered and destroyed 7 times by Muslim encroachers but reconstructed at the same spot every time.
Champaner :- The olden capital of Sultan Mahmud Beghara lies at the foothills of the Pavagadh. Jama Masjid on Champaner is a must visit place for the tourists.
